  • Surveyor

    RPA is an award-winning 100 percent employee-owned (ESOP) civil engineering, landscape architecture and land surveying firm with offices in Helena, Kalispell and Bozeman, Montana and Fort Collins, Colorado.

     

    RPA is seeking a highly motivated, detail oriented Land Surveyor to join our Kalispell office on a temporary basis. The successful candidate will assist in the topographic surveys, cadastral surveys, boundary retracement, construction surveys, and horizontal / vertical controls. Projects typically range from road improvement / planning projects in Mount Rainier National Park in Washington and Alaska to airport improvements in Jordan, Montana.  Travel away from the office is expected and can be for a week or weeks at a time during some periods.

     

    RPA's surveying equipment includes Trimble GPS Systems, and Trimble Robotic systems.

    RPA survey group also provides Subsurface Utility Engineering (SUE) to accurately map underground utilities and structures.

    This position requires zero to ten years of experience.  Employment terms ranging from intern to temporary will be considered.  Persons enrolled or graduated from an accredited survey program will be considered along with persons with Land Surveying experience only. An Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in the surveying field is preferred, but not required.

     

    Desired qualifications include:

    • Experience in field survey work
    • Experience in survey data reduction
    • Proficiency in Trimble Software
    • Proficiency with MicroStation/GEOPAK software
    • Proficiency in AutoCAD / Civil 3D software
    • Superior attention to detail
    • Willingness to travel
    • Ability to effectively communicate, both verbally and in writing
    • Willingness to perform menial tasks as necessary associated with Land Surveying and SUE
    • Ability to get along/work well with others

  • Construction Engineer/Technician

    RPA, a 100% employee-owned firm, is seeking a highly motivated, detail oriented Construction Engineer / Technician to join our Helena Montana office. The successful candidate will be responsible for construction observation to determine conformance with the plans and specifications and assist the Project Manager in design, construction inspection and project closeout. The Construction Engineer / Technician is also expected to assist and advise other construction technicians as needed. The firm's projects are frequently out-of-town, and out-of-town travel and/or temporary relocation will be required on a project by project basis.

     

    This position requires at least five years of experience in construction observation services. The candidate is expected to have a good understanding of most civil engineering construction methods and specifications. The person must be able to work independently but also as part of a team.

     

    Required qualifications include:

    • Ability to read construction drawings.
    • Knowledge of surveying and ability to work independently and make judgments on-site.
    • Knowledge of current construction practices and specifications.
    • Demonstrated proficiency in the use of nuclear moisture-density gauge, laser levels and other testing equipment.
    • Excellent attention to detail and ability to learn quickly.
    • Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment.
    • Must maintain confidentiality with information.
    • Strong interpersonal and organizational skills.
    • Willing to work outside in all weather’s elements.
    • Effective interpersonal skills and a team approach to problem-solving.
    • Ability to effectively communicate, both verbally and in writing.

  • Water/Wastewater Engineer

    RPA, a 100% employee-owned firm, is seeking a highly motivated, detail oriented Water/Wastewater Engineer/Designer to join either our Helena or Kalispell Montana offices. The successful candidate will be responsible for the design of supply, storage, treatment and distribution of water and the collection, pumping and treatment of wastewater for federal, state and/or local agencies.   • CADD Operator/Engineering Technician

    RPA is seeking a highly motivated, detail oriented CADD Technician to join our Helena office. The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing design plans for projects and assisting Project Managers and Engineers. This position requires an Associate of Applied Science degree in Drafting Technology and two years of CADD experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. The position will be temporary, full-time for a period of approximately 4 months with the potential to become permanent, full-time thereafter. Anticipated start date would be early November 2017.
