ROBERT PECCIA & ASSOCIATES (RPA) is an award-winning 100 percent employee-owned (ESOP) civil engineering, landscape architecture and land surveying firm with offices in Helena, Kalispell and Bozeman, Montana and Fort Collins, Colorado.


RPA is seeking a highly motivated, detail oriented Land Surveyor to join our Kalispell office on a temporary basis. The successful candidate will assist in the topographic surveys, cadastral surveys, boundary retracement, construction surveys, and horizontal / vertical controls. Projects typically range from road improvement / planning projects in Mount Rainier National Park in Washington and Alaska to airport improvements in Jordan, Montana.  Travel away from the office is expected and can be for a week or weeks at a time during some periods.


RPA's surveying equipment includes Trimble GPS Systems, and Trimble Robotic systems.

RPA survey group also provides Subsurface Utility Engineering (SUE) to accurately map underground utilities and structures.

This position requires zero to ten years of experience.  Employment terms ranging from intern to temporary will be considered.  Persons enrolled or graduated from an accredited survey program will be considered along with persons with Land Surveying experience only. An Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in the surveying field is preferred, but not required.


Desired qualifications include:

• Experience in field survey work

• Experience in survey data reduction

• Proficiency in Trimble Software

• Proficiency with MicroStation/GEOPAK software

• Proficiency in AutoCAD / Civil 3D software

• Superior attention to detail

• Willingness to travel

• Ability to effectively communicate, both verbally and in writing


• Willingness to perform menial tasks as necessary associated with Land Surveying and SUE

• Ability to get along/work well with others

• Willingness to learn
