As an entry-level engineer, you will engage in planning, design, and construction support for diverse projects. Your responsibilities may include preparing planning and construction documents, technical reports, design specifications, and construction estimates. We’re looking for candidates with a foundational understanding of design and construction methods who can thrive in a collaborative team environment.

What to expect in this POsition

Specific duties will vary by group and may include the following:

  • Airports: Engineering services for general aviation airports across Montana, including planning, design, and construction administration.
  • Site Development: Collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams on projects like campus facilities, military installations, urban centers, schools, commercial developments, and residential projects.
  • Streets and Highways: Design urban streets and rural highways for various local, state, and federal agencies.
  • Structures: Provide structural services for residential and commercial developments, including mass timber, concrete, steel, and bridge designs.
  • Transportation Planning & Operations: Engage in multi-disciplinary planning, traffic and safety engineering, preliminary transportation engineering, and active transportation improvements.
  • Water/Wastewater: Deliver services for municipalities, including surface and groundwater supply and wastewater treatment systems.

Qualifications

We welcome applicants at all experience levels, with a focus on those who demonstrate strong technical knowledge and a willingness to learn. Key qualifications include:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Civil Engineering Technology, or related field.
  • Certification: Engineering Intern (EI) certification, or the ability to obtain it within six months.
  • Experience: 0-4 years in design, construction, or related field.
  • Attributes: Detail-oriented, self-motivated, collaborative, able to handle tight deadlines, and eager to learn.
  • Commitment: A positive attitude and commitment to be an active participant in our employee-owned culture and alignment with RPA’s core values.
