JOB OVERVIEW

ROBERT PECCIA & ASSOCIATES (RPA) is seeking a talented and motivated Surveyor to join our dynamic team. As a key member of our Survey/SUE Group, you’ll play a vital role in supporting our Surveying/SUE Group’s efforts to deliver exceptional surveying services to a diverse range of clients. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in land surveying, with expertise in field surveys, data collection, mapping, and surveying software. The firm’s projects are frequently out-of-town which may require overnight travel.

Primary Responsibilities

Our Surveying/SUE Group specializes in providing a full range of surveying services, including control surveys, topographic mapping, boundary/cadastral surveys, and Subsurface Utility Engineering (SUE). You will be responsible for efficiently completing field data collection, data reduction, mapping, and generating finished surveys to meet project requirements. The following are the primary responsibilities of the position:

  • Conduct field surveys and prepare control traverse plans, plat maps, survey base maps, and topographic maps.
  • Conduct field surveys for both design and construction phases of engineering projects.
  • Maintain expertise with survey techniques including computer applications and expand and improve techniques when possible.
  • Use state-of-the-art survey techniques and utilize advanced techniques where appropriate.

Qualifications

Individual qualities that the company looks for are self-motivation, intelligence, common sense, industriousness, and the ability to communicate and work well with others. The following are desired qualifications for the position:

  • Associate’s degree in land survey or related field.
  • Ability to perform topographic site, boundary, ALTA, Control, and other necessary surveys.
  • Knowledge and ability to use various types of total stations and GPS.
  • Ability to generate finished drawings in AutoCAD, Civil3D, and MicroStation, preferred.
  • Ability to read and understand construction plans and maps.
  • Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work well with others.

The following outlines additional position qualifications:

  • Survey Technician: Registration as a Land Surveyor Intern (LSI), or ability to obtain.
  • Project Land Surveyor: Registration as a Professional Land Surveyor (PLS), or ability to obtain.
  • Senior Project Land Surveyor: Registration as a Professional Land Surveyor (PLS), or ability to obtain; 8+ years of relevant experience.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee frequently works in outside weather conditions. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 125 pounds.
