JOB OVERVIEW

ROBERT PECCIA & ASSOCIATES (RPA) is seeking a motivated and passionate Transportation Engineer to join our dynamic Transportation Planning and Operations Group. In this role, you will contribute to a variety of transportation engineering projects, including traffic engineering studies, active transportation designs, corridor plans, long-range transportation plans, and safety analyses. Ideal candidates will possess technical proficiency, a strong desire to learn, and the ability to thrive in a collaborative team environment.

What to Expect in this Position

As a Transportation Engineer, you will engage in meaningful projects that impact communities across the northwest. You will collaborate with a talented team on projects for MDT, FHWA, and various local municipalities. Your contributions will be vital to our highly respected Transportation Planning and Operations Group.

Your daily responsibilities will encompass a diverse array of tasks, including planning, preliminary design, technical data analyses, and traffic engineering. Specific duties may include:

  • Identifying and evaluating transportation improvement alternatives
  • Conducting traffic and safety analyses
  • Developing preliminary design plans
  • Creating visualizations and 3D concept renderings using advanced software
  • Documenting findings and writing technical reports

Qualifications

We welcome applicants at all experience levels, with a focus on those who demonstrate strong technical knowledge and a willingness to grow. Key qualifications include:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering with a focus on transportation or a related field.
  • Licensure: Professional Engineering (PE) license in Montana, or the ability to obtain it within six months.
  • Experience: 4-8 years of experience in traffic/transportation engineering.
  • Skills: Experience with traffic simulation tools like Synchro, SimTraffic, and Vissim. A willingness to learn new software and tools.
  • Attributes: Technical proficiency, detail-oriented, excellent written and verbal communication skills, collaborative, desire to learn.
