What to Expect in this Position
As Project Manager, you will guide a team of engineers on diverse transportation design projects, from rural highways to complex urban interchanges. Additionally, you will contribute to our marketing and business development initiatives, helping to strengthen RPA’s presence in the region. Responsibilities include:
- Project Leadership: Oversee planning, design, and execution for projects ranging from small-scale roads to large, complex highway systems.
- Mentorship and Team Development: Provide training, guidance, and mentorship to junior engineers, fostering a collaborative team environment.
- Technical Expertise: Lead roadway design on multi-disciplinary projects, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and quality in all technical work.
- Client and Stakeholder Relations: Build and maintain strong partnerships with clients, government agencies, and industry professionals to ensure successful project outcomes.
- Documentation and Reporting: Manage the preparation of detailed reports, design calculations, and technical documentation.
- Business Development: Support marketing strategies and client development efforts to drive growth within the Streets and Highways Group.
Qualifications
We are looking for a highly skilled professional who combines strong technical knowledge in highway design with leadership abilities and a commitment to teamwork. The ideal candidate will meet the following qualifications:
- Education and Certification: Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering (or related field) with a Professional Engineering (PE) license in Montana, or ability to obtain within six months.
- Experience: 8+ years of progressive experience in roadway design. Prior experience leading projects for the Montana Department of Transportation (MDT) or Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) is highly desirable.
- Technical Proficiency: Advanced skills in roadway design software such as Civil3D, MicroStation, or GEOPAK.
- Personal Attributes: Detail-oriented, self-motivated, and able to manage multiple deadlines effectively. Strong interpersonal skills, common sense, and a solutions-oriented approach are essential for success in this role.
