JOB OVERVIEW
ROBERT PECCIA & ASSOCIATES (RPA) has an exciting opportunity for a mid-level Planner. This individual will work as part of the Transportation Planning and Operations Group to assist in conducting corridor planning studies, feasibility studies, regulatory research and policy development, grant applications, active transportation planning, safety studies, land use and environmental investigations, and other transportation planning efforts. The successful candidate will have a strong interest and background in planning, excellent technical writing abilities, and outstanding communication and interpersonal skills in interactions with colleagues, clients, government agencies, and the public. Key traits include self-motivation, team orientation, technical proficiency, and ability to learn new skills.

Primary REsponsibilities
- Serve as planning lead on multi-discipline projects varying in size and scope.
- Conduct transportation, land use, and environmental planning evaluations and related research.
- Coordinate and build effective relationships with colleagues, clients, government agencies, and other professionals.
- Facilitate public and stakeholder coordination, including in-person and virtual outreach.
- Prepare memoranda and technical reports summarizing planning methodologies, results, and recommendations.
- Prepare graphics, flowcharts, or other visualizations to convey technical concepts to non-technical audiences.
- Provide mentorship, training, and guidance to junior planners.
- Support the development of marketing strategies, proposals, and client development plans.
Qualifications

We will consider applicants with varied experience levels but are most focused on qualified individuals who exhibit strong technical knowledge in planning or related fields. The following are desired qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in planning, environmental science, engineering, landscape architecture, or related field.
- Four (4) to eight (8) years of progressive experience in planning or related professional field.
- Professional Transportation Planner (PTP), American Institute of Certified Planners (AICP), or other planning certification desired.
- Demonstrated knowledge and experience in one or more planning disciplines, such as transportation planning (preferred), environmental planning, land use planning, urban design, or economic development.
- Expertise using programs such as Microsoft Word/Excel, ArcGIS, and the Adobe Suite desirable.
- Ability to manage tight deadlines, make independent decisions, and work cooperatively with multi-discipline teams.
- Excellent written and spoken communication skills.
