What to Expect in this Position

As the Streets & Highways Group Manager, you will:

  • Lead: Inspire and guide our Streets & Highways Group, driving excellence across a diverse portfolio of transportation infrastructure projects across the northwest.
  • Innovate: Guide your team through complex roadway design, hydraulic/hydrology, and urban/rural highway projects, encouraging creative solutions and leveraging technical expertise.
  • Strategize: Develop and implement marketing and business development strategies to bolster RPA’s growth and market presence.
  • Collaborate: Build and maintain strong relationships with key clients such as MDT, FHWA, NPS, USFS, and local municipalities, ensuring alignment with their needs and satisfaction with our services.
  • Develop: Build on our established reputation for outstanding client service and project delivery, further strengthening our market position.
  • Mentor: Guide and support junior engineers, supporting their growth and development while ensuring the overall success of the team.
  • Deliver: Provide technical support, design leadership, client-facing project management, while overseeing QA/QC processes to ensure high-quality project outcomes.

Qualifications

We are looking for candidates with:

  • Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering, Civil Engineering Technology, or a related field.
  • Licensure: Professional Engineering license in Montana, or the ability to obtain within six months.
  • Experience: At least ten years of progressive experience in roadway design, with a proven track record in leading complex highway projects, preferably for MDT or other state DOTs.
  • Skills: Demonstrated leadership, communication skills, technical knowledge, and experience with roadway design programs such as Civil3D and/or MicroStation.
  • Attributes: Self-motivated, detail-oriented, and capable of working under tight deadlines while making independent decisions.
  • Commitment: A positive attitude and commitment to be an active participant in our employee-owned culture and alignment with RPA’s core values.
