Kalispell West Side Interceptor Project
Client: City of Kalispell, MT
The West Side Interceptor (WSI) Project sought to address limited wastewater capacity and provide for future growth and development west and north of the city of Kalispell, MT. RPA used GIS data to analyze existing conditions within the study area and to estimate the number of Equivalent Residential Units (ERUs) that could potentially be served by a new sewer line.
The service area was evaluated to identify potential physical limitations and environmental resources that have potential for impacting the location and alignments. The land within the sewer service area was divided into sub-areas based on zoning, and the net developable area for each was calculated. Areas such as major rights-of-way, floodways and a 100-foot setback from streams, ponds and floodways were excluded. Using ArcMap, the total potential number of ERUs in each sub-area
